We envisage ‘School Ready, Steady, Go’ to be a transitioning link between preschool and school that is currently missing for teachers and parents; helping them get ready for school. Children starting school need to be better prepared to progress and succeed with their learning.
As experienced primary school teachers and mothers, we believe parents don’t have a clear understanding of what it means for their child to be ‘ready for school’. Many parents also don’t have the knowledge or confidence to make an informed decision of when their child is ready to start school, which is not necessarily the Kiwi milestone of their 5th birthday.
There is an overwhelming amount of information, resources and activities available for parents to purchase. This is often a stressful and confusing time for the parents as well as the child. To support parents our website will provide guidance to ensure the best choice for their child’s needs for starting school. You'll have access to our professional knowledge, support, resources and explanations on how to choose and use the correct tools. We will empower families to feel more confident and sure of their decisions that affect the wellbeing of their child's home learning and school readiness.
Children do have fun and success in their preschool years, but success at school is measured in a different way. We want to supplement teachers and support parents by assisting with reducing the confusion and disappointment many parents and children experience in their first year at school.
